End-of-Life (EOL) Notice

Epson announced the End-of-Life (EOL) for the Epson ColorWorks C831 Label Printer effective June 15th, 2020. The Epson ColorWorks C6500A is the recommended replacement for the Epson ColorWorks C831. The Epson ColorWorks C6500A prints up to 8.34″ wide, has faster speeds, has higher print quality and is made to handle more total labels than the earlier C831, without the need for pin-fed media. Compatible with ZPL II, SAP®, major middleware drivers and more, and built to accommodate remote printer management. Please note that the Epson C6500A is not pin-fed and so existing C831 media is not compatible.

Epson’s ColorWorks C831 Inkjet Label Printer is ideal for industrial applications such as large format drum and chemical GHS labels. The Epson C831 is the first inkjet solution to be BS5609 certified and combines all the benefits of a rugged color inkjet printer with the accuracy of an 8-pin tractor feeder. It features print speeds up 16.5 pages per minute, printable areas up to 8″ x 22″, precise label feeding to reduce jamming and high-density barcode printing, all at a lower cost of ownership (TCO) than color thermal transfer or color laser printers.

Products are still fully covered under the manufacturer’s warranty should there be an issue with the product itself.

Epson’s ColorWorks C831 inkjet printer with Epson’s DURABrite® pigment inks used in combination with Neenah Kimdura Poly media has been BS5609 certified.
Print speed is based on printing the suite of ISO/IEC 24734 text and graphic images on 8.5″ x 11″ size pages. Speed of up to 16.5 pages per minute is based on draft mode. Actual print times will vary based on system configuration, software, and page complexity.
